Applekin 2013

It was a huge success. We didn't make it through all the apples we had acquired, but still got well over 60 gallons of juice. The activities were fun. I made the kids dance for their cakes and we choose their names out of a pumpkin head one at a time to get their cake. We had a sawdust dig with candy, toys and money.
The Lip Sync was fun. I think H. was declared the winner, but I wouldn't have been able to choose. My favorite part was the impromptu telling of scary stories in the trailer. there were evil butterflies, dinosaurs, sharks etc. I learned to be careful at home while I am naked or a monster might see my butt.
My personal favorite- The Shaggy Monster Cake

The Eyes Have It

Witch legs

People did do a lot of work!

C had a dance, but we sure loved seeing their costumes.

Sonny and Cher

Celine

Greased Lightning

The best entertainment ever

This Takes The Cake

I have been taking a cake decorating class. It's something I have always been interested in doing. It was only $10.00...then all the nickel and diming began, but I am having a riot. I want to take all four courses.
First night. All the supplies.

Finished cookies. No, someone didn't take a bite of the cookies. They just broke apart.

My classmates. I am enjoying getting to know them. I think I remember their names, but I told them I wouldn't publish them. They are very fun people.

This weeks project.

In process...good thing you can't see my mistakes. This is going to take practice!

Finished product. Sunday's dessert.

My instructor. She is fantastic. I am learning a lot.
Nest week-cupcakes and Chrysanthemum flowers.

Treasure Hunters

I spent a thoroughly wonderful day with some great treasure hunters. Topaz and Agate were our intended prizes. It was a wonderfully fulfilling day. We hope to go again next spring and camp over night.
Jumping right into it.

I found my treasure.

Showing off the bags,

Swinging the bags...Big D couldn't wait around for a picture.

L filled his bag to the brim.

Big D useing his jacket to look for treasure.

The tow-det came along also.

Can you spot the treasure hunters?

A little of the booty.(Arrgh we be pirates)

We found the best pieces in the road!

Sports Shots

I took some of my handsome grandsons outside one evening and let them run, tumble and perform. Here are the great shots. To get a truly great feel for the shots you need to 'flick' through them. I love these guys so much. Who knew boys were so fun? It is even better when my job isn't to discipline but to pass out the goodies and hugs.

I wish I could have added the whole series. I love  you guys!

Showering Lacey

We had a tremendous party for Lacey. Thank you to her sisters for providing a place to party. She got some great gifts. I am so excited for grandbaby number 10!
Loved the decorations

What a lot of love!

These diapers were a way for us to leave notes for Lacey to read for middle of the night feedings.

Fun people

Fun People

There's my grandbaby!

I didn't even get a picture of the wonderful food. We finished the night with the Women's Broadcast, dinner and trinkets. It was the best.

September Thoughts

I am not sure where this post will wander, but I am along for the ride. I really have an interesting life lately, swinging wildly from one emotion to another. (I think some people describe that as Bipolar?) I actually feel like I am in a tug of war with good and evil. My beautiful spring and summer seasons are gone...put away like holiday decorations in some dark box until a later date. I love the autumn but feel the melancholy of winter racing up the street to knock on my door. I was grateful for President Monson recognition of my feelings as a mother in his talk. I am torn. I feel a need to just sit out a few dances. Let someone else be in charge and directing the cruise. And underneath it all, my Heavenly Father is there with peace and comfort as I ask Him to help me. I realize that I really 'have it all'. But it is hard to be in Satan's world with bills, insurance, necessities, etc. crawling all around my emotions. Just when I think the Great American Nervous Breakdown is about to start, an angel flies in and rescues me for a few more hours
I so enjoyed the weekend in the presence of my beautiful daughters. And they are so beautiful. I know I shouldn't have pride, but I wish they knew how stunning they are. Saturday afternoon, as I enjoyed them at Lacey's shower, I felt the Spirit whisper to me, that this was one of the tender mercies that I had been praying for.
As I lay in my husbands arms and weep, I realize how blessed I am that he is patient and understanding and 'super'.
As I look at our yard and the harvest from our garden, again, I am blessed. We have plenty to eat for the next few weeks. and as I enjoyed the half pumpkin muffin that I just ate, I was grateful for sweet things.
I do a lot of wishing for easier times. I know that if  that would help me and my family, easier times would come. But we must have something to learn. I am grateful for the opportunities to repent and try to learn what I need to know.
This post has really been for venting. If I don't respond as quickly to pleas for help, please be patient with me. I am trying to get it together. I want to do everything the Savior could possibly ask of me. I need a little time to fill my well. Thanks for all your drops.

It's Plane to See

A couple of weeks ago, K stopped by with boys. they were headed to the Air Force Museum. The boys asked if they could get Grammy and Popie to go with them. I am so glad they asked us. We were really busy and probably shouldn't have left our tasks, but it was a great day.
This was huge. You really have to stand under it to understand the mass.

This was C's smile...it looks like he is trying to push the plane.

The interactive displays.

The only picture I coudl get of Little T. You wouldn't believe how I had to manuever to get this one!

I have always liked these tigery planes

C in the jump seat

Watching movies...why I didn't get a picture of the donation bowl, I'll never know. I think it was the highlight of the adventure.

For the M*A*S*H fans

Still attempting the smile

There were so many unusual planes. There were even some helicopters with open bays that I really wanted to sneak into...but I was good. Thanks for the invite boys!
