Meet Fredadiah
Fredadiah- The Nephite Tree
We were able to perform a service while in "Book of Mormon' times. 23 trees were donated and each tribe was able to plant a tree.
Some of the hard working hole diggers. We wished we had more shovels for the rest of us to 'supervise' with.
We were told they were $100.00 tress and needed a $200.00 hole. Our tribe worked hard and encouraged each other.
It really is hard to supervise without that shovel to lean on.
We were one of the first tribes finished. Elder Wall came by and told us to name our tree. The tribe chose the name Fred. It didn't sound very Book of Mormonish. so we added the 'adiah'.
Jenna checks the depth of the hole. Fred is ready to be planted. Our girls posing.
Fredadiah is a honey locust. He is planted on the northeast corner of the ball diamond close the to back stop. We are going to be watching him. We are praying that he lives and gives good shade in the years to come.
Chelsey gives Fred a nice long drink. Live, Fred, Live!
This was a very fun service project.

Captain Moroni
Of course I loved Captain Moroni and his cute 'minion'. It was so fun to see my boys in the reenactments. I loved the Title of Liberty.
Isn't that the cutest Nephite Warrior?
It was a miracle that I got to see it. Hayden started a migraine headache Thursday morning. He doesn't often get them, but when he does- they knock him off his feet. We gave him an Ibuprofen at camp. I had forgotten that he was acting that morning. I figured he might have to sleep it off that day. When he reminded me that he had a part that morning, I took him to the medical tent. There, they started to work on him. Ginny Wood came to talk to me. They had decided to 'up' the Ibuprofen. I suggestion a blessing. Steve and Bishop Hadlow gave him the blessing. Then Etsuko Chidester worked him over with peppermint oil.
An hour later, Hayden was playing his part. No pain. I was so glad the Heavenly father was looking after Hayden. I know he would have still gone on, but it was so nice to have him perform without the pain.
Captain Moroni was so hot! The scripts wording...not mine.Notice the cool spear Carter is holding.
Praying for Liberty.
Hoisting the Title of Liberty.
Garments cast at Moroni's feet.
Posting the Title of Liberty.
It was one of my favorite experiences.
And it came to pass that he rent his coat; and he took a piece thereof, and wrote upon it—In memory of our God, our religion, and freedom, and our peace, our wives, and our children—and he fastened it upon the end of a pole.
And he fastened on his head-plate, and his breastplate, and his shields, and girded on his armor about his loins; and he took the pole, which had on the end thereof his rent coat, (and he called it the title of liberty) and he bowed himself to the earth, and he prayed mightily unto his God for the blessings of liberty to rest upon his brethren, so long as there should a band of Christians remain to possess the land—
For thus were all the true believers of Christ, who belonged to the church of God, called by those who did not belong to the church.

Sons of Helaman
Felicia was able to play the part of a Ammonite mother.
As I watched the stage fill with the young men of our stake, I felt my 'mother heart string' begin to tug. There were strong, handsome, courageous and honorable sons of God standing before me. I looked at the sons of friends and my heart tugged for them also. I know the wonderful mothers in our stake.
They stood with their spears, tapping the ground and singing, "We are as the army of Helaman. We have been taught in our youth..." They are on the right path.
Carter is behind the boy in dark brown.
"Now they never had fought yet they did not fear death; and they did think more upon the liberty of their fathers than they did upon their lives; yea, they had been taught by their mothers, that if they did not doubt, God would deliver them. And they rehearsed unto to me the words of their mothers, saying: We do not doubt our mothers knew it." Alma 56:47-48
Hayden is the very back guy on the left. Tyler, our tribe son, is 3 guys over from Hayden
Fearsome aren't they?

Studying War
The wars were a riot. They also had lessons to teach. Our tribe got to be the Anti Nephi Lehi group in one of the wars. They all ran to get their swords and shields. President Eckman reminded them that they had made a covenant not to use their weapons and made them return their weapons to the bins. They suddenly realized that they were going to be killed. The whole group joined hands, walked to meet the Lamanites and sang. It was effective.
Swords joined together in victory
There was also a war involving the 2000 stripling warriors. All the 14 and 15 year old boys were taken and given their instructions. They could be hit 30 times and even then they did not die. They could take a knee and still swing a sword. The wars were very exciting. The chief judges (Stake Presidency and Bishop Anderson) would incite great fervor in their groups. After the stripling warrior war, all the young men put their swords together.
See the flour bombs a flyin' . Chelsea Marsden and Hayden covered with the rain of war
There was a flour war....enough said. I was drumming for that war and still got clobbered a few times. In the wars, you were supposed to keep track of how many times you were hit and 'die' when that number was reached. In the flour war, I think only the Stake Presidency was counting hits or they were the prime targets, because they were the only four people I saw prostrate on the battle field.
The final battle commences. The word awesome doesn't quite describe the feeling as they charged down the hill.
The final battle was emotional also. There was President Eckman's nation at the bottom of a hill. They were the Nephites. I was drumming then also. We could hear the three other nations being readied for battle. They were cheering and beating their swords on their shields. Then over the top of the hill they ran. It was all over in a few minutes. We watched Mormon and his remaining men fight. We watched Mormon instruct his son Moroni to preserve the records. The entire camp watched reverently as he hid the records. No one spoke as we watched him walk out of sight. It was powerful.

Meet Our Tribe
We had the best kids in our tribe. They were kind to each other and a lot of fun to be with. I want you to meet them.

We studied the Book of Mormon stories together and lived it. They never complained about anything we asked them to do. And some of the stuff was kind of scary. They appear in these pictures with war paint.

A Mighty Change of Heart
Wow! I am so blessed to have been able to attend this Youth Conference. As we gathered at the church on Tuesday morning, I was a little apprehensive because I had been gravely ill the week before. The room was full of excitement as the youth arrived. As we watched the first reenactments, I felt the Spirit wash over me. I knew it was going to be fantastic. I loved the surprise of Alex Boye` walking on stage to sing his song. Over the next few days I will share some of my favorite parts of the conference.
First of all, meet some of the tribe.
They were so fun. We love them all. I will be introducing them in the next few days.
I cried more than I expected I would. My first tearful experience began when we were told that Alma had been found. We went to the "Waters of Mormon". There we reverently watched Alma baptize some of the youth. Chelsea Marsden sang a beautiful rendition of I Believe In Christ. She was joined in a duet by our own tribal daughter, Chelsey Brown.
It was so beautiful. The Spirit was so strong. Carter was one of the youth baptized. I was so touched. "...The waters of Mormon, the forest of Mormon, how beautiful are they to the eyes of them who there came to a knowledge of their Redeemer; yea,and how blessed are they, for they shall sing to his praise forever. " Mosiah 18: 30
I love the Book of Mormon. I have started it again. In the very first chapter it testifies of my Savior.
