Going Tribal

I am getting excited for Youth conference in a few weeks. 2010 Strong. (Don't hit the 'i', it becomes 2010 'String'.) We need 8 sets of clothes for the family. At first, it felt like a chore, but I am really enjoying designing and sewing our tunics, head wear and belts. I have machine embroidered a design on everyone's outfit that let's us remember we are Johnsons. Here is a mini fashion show.Mine is looking like 'costly apparel'. Steve will make a great Tribal Leader in autumn colors and turquoise stripes. Hayden wanted long sleeves. and "Thanks" to Tiffany Sowby for making Carter's tunic. I added the red at home to liven it up. Won't we look like Nephites and Lamanites?

Celebrating Grandma Sarah

We said 'Good-bye' to Steve's Grandma Sarah Johnson yesterday. It was a lovely day. Her funeral was full of memories and good music. Her Stake President was also her home teacher. He conducted and spoke. He bore a strong testimony but spent most of his talk remembering our grandma. He knew her sweetness and love the way we did. Grandma Johnson was so loving to me. I always felt accepted and loved in her presence. I will miss her.

I was so grateful to have the time with Steve. I love to be alone with him in the car. We get our best communication going that way. I hated to see the trip end. We definitely don't get enough alone time. We have been married for thirty-one-derful years on one week from today. Because of our crazy work schedules next week, we will be dragging out the celebration for days!Below: Shoshone Falls-note the beautiful rainbow. Superman at the falls. What is he doing with that bucket at the rest stop???

Accolades to Cory

We were invited to Cory's Preschool Graduation last night. What fun it was. He regaled us with song and antics. I loved watching his actions in the songs. He especially loved the tassel on his mortar board. He would pull on it until his board was covering his ears. He knows his stuff. I am very proud of him. It was great to visit him at his home afterwards. My grand kids are wonderful.
Isabelle was so much fun also. She put on her purple tutu and danced a 'purple' dance for us. Then Cory did a great 'black' dance. He started a 'blue' dance, but couldn't finish because his dad wouldn't start the music. What a good time!

The Sun Garden

Steve was such a sweetheart and tilled up the tiny little lawn we had by our patio. He then moved large bulky stones to make my path. We added a wall with purchased blocks. This is the sun garden. We are currently looking for the perfect sundial and searching nursery sites for specialty day lilies to add to it. We are going to divide some of our bounteous perennials to fill up the garden. I love it. I also got all the planters filled.

I love this 'Picasso" petunia I found. I can't wait until it spills over the edge of the pot. ...Maybe Hayden will watch for it and quit bumping his head on the pot!
I
am hoping for a mini garden of Eden.

Tribute to Children

I really might have a Children's Day sometime. I want to celebrate my wonderful children. The past few weeks have brought some blows to my ego. I have felt like the world's worst mom. I know that I make mistakes and try to fix them. I am also willing to own my mistakes. I know that I am far from perfect. With Mother's Day coming I was feeling a little apprehensive. No need to do that. My children took care of me.
We woke up and went to a great Sacrament meeting. We were joined by Morgan, Colton and Lacey. After church, I came home to a freshly made bed. Carter had a leader drive him home during Sunday School to do that for me. He made me a cute note also.
I loved being outside in the glorious fragrance of the lilacs, where Steve brought me an icy glass of homemade apple juice- the good blend! We enjoyed the songbirds and breezes with the subtle notes of the wind chimes. I remembered how Hayden had stayed up late to rub my feet and pamper me.
Morgan arrived in a while and I thoroughly enjoyed her company. She was soon joined by the rest of my adorable children. I was showered with gifts. Carter gave me a miniature rose. Hayden some chocolate cherry sticks, Lacey is making me a beautiful cross stitch. Morgan gave me Cuttlebug Accessories. Marinda gave me fun paper for cards. Jeremiah and his family brought beautiful pictures (love the subjects in those pictures), flowers and a chocolate pretzel. And Stephanie and Richard brought music. I loved it all. My sweet daughter in law Marian really must have felt how much I needed her. I just loved the whole day. We played Barnyard Croquet and the day just raced by. I am so blessed. It all began with being married to Superman...but that story is coming in a few weeks.
Thank you! Thank you to my perfect children. I think the best thing about Mother's Day were the notes from my children. I will treasure them always!Thank you to my mom, who loved me and gave me the gospel. Thank you to Mom Johnson for Superman! Thank you to my grandchildren with their unconditional love.
